Partner Agencies

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.​ Our Student Government Association regularly holds American Red Cross blood drives.
 
The Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (CACRAO) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting postsecondary education through the professional development of its members, the sharing of ideas, and support of the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and their professional associations. Julie Padgett, Director of Enrollment Management/ Student Government Association (SGA) Advisor, represents the college in CACRAO.
 
The purpose of this project is to support community driven changes in four rural communities in McDowell County, including East Marion, Clinchfield, Eastfield – and a fourth community (to be determined). This project aims to model the success of the West Marion Community Forum, where leaders are working together to strategize, share information, and foster positive changes in their community. MTCC staff member Ginger Gorecki Webb is the Coordinator for this project, with supervision by Dr. Beverly Watts. Funded by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. A multi-partner agency (McDowell Chamber of Commerce, City of Marion, McDowell County, McDowell Tourism Development Authority and McDowell Economic Development Authority) whose goal is to promote local tourism, provide information to local residents and to serve as a tool in industrial recruitment.
 
The Arts Council encourages local artists and provides gallery space, a retail shop, teaching opportunities and a theater space for the performing arts. Contact: Susan Pyatt-Baker, Executive Director, at [email protected] or 828-652-0610.
 
The McDowell County Health Coalition is organized to enhance and promote community health by facilitating inclusive community partnerships, programs, preventative measures and outreach. Dr. Beverly Watts, an MTCC administrator and instructor, serves on the Board of Directors for this organization.
 
Mountain Glory Festival is held annually in downtown Marion on the second Saturday in October. Festival-goers enjoy original handicrafts, arts, live entertainment (featuring old-time mountain music), crafts, and, of course, food.It is sponsored by Marion Downtown Business Association.  Dr. Beverly Watts, an MTCC administrator and instructor, is responsible for coordinating all children’s activities for the Festival.
 
The Rutherford-Polk-McDowell Nurse Family Partnership is a free service to first time moms with low income. Moms are assigned a nurse while they are pregnant, and the nurse stays in visits and stays in contact with the mother and child until the child is 2 years of age. Eugene Edwards, who coordinates our Emergency Medical Technician Program, serves on this board as both a nurse and educator.
