American Red Cross
:
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power
of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Our Student Government Association regularly holds American Red Cross blood drives.
CACRAO
:
The Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (CACRAO) is a professional organization
dedicated to promoting postsecondary education through the professional development of its members, the sharing of ideas,
and support of related associations. Julie Padgett, Director of Enrollment Management/Student Government Association (SGA) Advisor, represents the college in CACRAO.
Community Engagement Project
:
This project supports community-driven changes in four rural communities in McDowell County, including East Marion,
Clinchfield, Eastfield, and one more to be determined. It models the success of the West Marion Community Forum.
MTCC staff member Ginger Gorecki Webb is the Coordinator, supervised by Dr. Beverly Watts.

McDowell Arts Council Association
:
Encourages local artists and provides gallery space, a retail shop, teaching opportunities, and a theater space for the performing arts.

McDowell Health Coalition
:
Organized to enhance and promote community health by facilitating inclusive partnerships, programs, preventative measures, and outreach.
Dr. Beverly Watts, MTCC administrator and instructor, serves on the Board of Directors.
Mountain Glory Festival
:
Held annually in downtown Marion on the second Saturday in October. Features original handicrafts, arts, live entertainment,
and food. Sponsored by the Marion Downtown Business Association. Dr. Beverly Watts coordinates all children’s activities.
Rutherford-Polk-McDowell Family Nurse Partnership
:
A free service for first-time moms with low income. Each mom is assigned a nurse during pregnancy, continuing until the child turns 2.
Eugene Edwards, who coordinates MTCC’s Emergency Medical Technician Program, serves on this board as both nurse and educator.
