The Route 70 Cruisers, a nonprofit car club based in Old Fort, NC, have again demonstrated their commitment to local students by donating $1,500 through the McDowell Technical Community College Foundation, Inc. to fund scholarships in Automotive Systems Technology and Basic Law Enforcement Training at McDowell Technical Community College.

Beyond scholarships, the Cruisers’ generosity reaches many corners of McDowell County. Over the years, they’ve supported organizations such as the American Legion, Foothills Food Hub, Freedom Life Ministries, McDowell County Department of Social Services, McDowell Missions, and the McDowell Pregnancy Center, among others—bringing their total charitable giving to nearly $100,000 since 2009.
“Each year, the Route 70 Cruisers prove that their passion for cars is matched only by their passion for people,” said Dr. J.W. Kelley, President of McDowell Tech. “Their support directly impacts our students’ futures, providing opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. We are grateful for their vision, their generosity, and their ongoing investment in the success of our community.”
