Privacy Statement

This privacy statement (the “Privacy Statement”) describes McDowell Technical Community College’s (“McDowell Tech”, “MTCC”, or the “College”) statement regarding the collection and use of Personal Information when an individual (“User”) visits McDowell Tech’s website, https://www.mcdowelltech.edu, and other sites maintained by the college (the “Site”).  “Personal Information” refers to information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with User or User’s household.  If User does not consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information as described in this Privacy Statement, User must not use the Site or submit any Personal Information to the College through the Site.

Limitation on Scope of Content

The McDowell Tech web site contains information regarding McDowell Tech and its education, financial, and training services.  All pricing information referred to on this Site is in U.S. dollars.

No Representation or Warranty

McDowell Tech reserves the right to modify the information contained in this Privacy Statement at any time without notice.  It is User’s responsibility to review this Privacy Statement for any updates or modifications.  User’s continued use of the Site after the College posts changes to this Privacy Statement constitutes User’s consent to and acceptance of revisions to this Privacy Statement.  While the College makes all reasonable efforts to ensure that all material on the Site and in this Privacy Statement is correct, accuracy cannot be guaranteed and McDowell Tech does not assume any responsibility for the accuracy, completeness or authenticity of any information contained on the Site.

The Site, including all information and material contained herein, are provided to User “as is” without warranty of any kind, and McDowell Tech expressly disclaims any such warranties.

Personal Identification Information

 The College may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our Site, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site.  Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, and phone number.  We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us.  Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.

Non-Personal Identification Information

 The College may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site.  Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer, and technical information about User’s means of connection to our Site.  Means of connection information collected would be the operating system, the Internet service providers utilized, and other similar information.

Web Browser Cookies

A cookie is a small text file, typically generated by a website and saved in User’s web browser.  Its purpose is to store information that can be used by the website on subsequent visits.  McDowell Tech does not use cookies in this manner.  However, the College does include cookies from Google Analytics; a third party that provides anonymous statistical information about Users to the Site.

Google Analytics is used to monitor how Users are accessing pages and their activity around the Site.  This does not include personal identifiable information, but does report on things like city location, browsers, and platforms used, and demographic information from User’s Google profiles such as gender, age bracket, interests, etc.

How We Use Collected Information

 McDowell Tech may collect and use User’s personal information for the following purposes:

• To personalize User experience
• The College may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group us the services and resources provide on our Site
• To process payments
• The College may use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order only to provide service to that order. The College does not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service.
• To send periodic emails
• The College may us the email address to respond to their inquiries, questions, and/or other requests.

How We Protect Your Information

 The College adopts appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measure to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information, and data store on our Site.  Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and Users happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.

Sharing Your Personal Information

 The College will not sell, trade, or rent User’s personal identification information to others.  The College may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and Users with our business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

Third Party Websites

 Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, supplier, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, and other third parties.  The College does not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Site.  In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing.  These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service polices.  Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites, which have a link to our Site, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.
