The Emergency Management curriculum is designed to provide students with a foundation of technical and professional knowledge needed for emergency services delivery in local and state government agencies. Study involves both management and technical aspects of law enforcement, fire protection, emergency medical services, and emergency planning.
Applying is a three step process. You can complete the application process by clicking the link on McDowell Tech’s website for “Admissions”. Follow the step-by-step process including the financial aid process if you wish to qualify for federal financial assistance. Be sure to choose McDowell Technical Community College as the college for which you are applying.
Be sure to save your user name and passwords that you use to create accounts. In addition don’t forget to write down you Residency Identification Number that will be assigned to you at the conclusion of step one. You will need this number when completing step two. Make sure to indicate your program of study as Emergency Management.
When you finish the application steps, your information will be forwarded to McDowell Tech’s Student Services Department for processing.

If you intend on seeking financial assistance, complete the on-line application for financial assistance at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to include McDowell Technical Community College as the institution you are attending. FAFSA and McDowell Technical Community College Financial Aid Office will contact you via email if you are approved for financial assistance.

While early registration is being conducted, contact Chet Effler, Emergency Management Coordinator (828) 652-0663 to make an appointment for scheduling classes. Classes will primarily be offered through on-line distance education.
