The Accounting and Finance curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and the skills necessary for employment and growth in the accounting and finance profession. Accountants and finance professionals assemble and analyze, process, and communicate essential information about financial operations. Course work may include accounting, finance, ethics, business law, computer applications, financial planning, insurance, marketing, real estate, selling, and taxation. Related skills are developed through the study of communications, computer applications, financial analysis, critical thinking skills, and ethics. Graduates should qualify for entry-level accounting and finance positions in many types of organizations including accounting firms, small businesses, manufacturing firms, banks, hospitals, school systems, and governmental agencies.

Accounting is one of the most versatile degrees that a person may acquire. It is pivotal in ALL businesses, from sole proprietor (family run), partnership (2 or more partners), to corporations (small to multi billions). Every business needs guidance in how they are using their monies and what is the best way to use future monies.

This curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and the skills necessary for employment and growth in the accounting profession.   Using the “language of business,” accountants assemble and analyze, process and communicate essential information about financial operations.

In addition to course work in accounting principles, theories, and practice; students will study business law, finance, management, and economics.  Related skills are developed through the study of communications, computer applications, financial analysis, critical thinking skills, and ethics.

Potential Careers

Graduates should qualify for entry-level accounting positions in many types of organizations including Accounting firms, small businesses, manufacturing firms, banks, hospitals, school systems, and governmental agencies. With work experience and additional education, an individual may advance in the accounting profession. Most jobs found upon graduation are entry level Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Tax preparer and general bookkeeping. The employer’s that hire our students run from traditional office work or manufacturing, to working with NASCAR or touring with a rock band. We have former students work in all these fields.

We have former students working in  tax preparation, in local government positions; Private Practice CPA firms; and several Non Profit organizations.
