District Court Judge Corey MacKinnon of Marion, NC, swore in two new members and one returning member to the McDowell Technical Community College Board of Trustees at the group’s latest meeting held on August 7th. Victoria Abernathy, David Patneaude and returning member Chad Marsh will each serve four-year terms on the board. Judge MacKinnon is also a member of the trustee board.
Victoria Abernathy was appointed to the board of trustees by the N.C. Senate. She is employed by McDowell County Government as a Shooting Range Officer and is married to McDowell Economic Development Director Chuck Abernathy, who is a member of the McDowell County Board of Education.
David Patneaude was appointed to the board by the N.C. House of Representatives. He is a self-employed businessman and realtor with Catawba Properties in Marion. This is Patneaude’s second time serving on the board of trustees.
Chad Marsh was re-appointed to the board by the McDowell County Board of Commissioners, having just completed a term during the last academic year. He is employed by McDowell County Government as Director of Parks and Recreation. Marsh is a retired Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy and is married to Crystal Stroud Marsh, an employee of West McDowell Middle School.
The MTCC Board of Trustees is comprised of twelve members serving four-year terms. Appointments are non-partisan and members serve on the board without pay.
